Why the Doha deadlock?
What are the Doha rounds and why has there been a deadlock over it
for so long?
Livemint, September 24, 2009
After a
two-day conclave earlier this month, the union minister for commerce
and industry, Anand Sharma, announced that a deadlock over the Doha
Round of trade talks had been broken, and that negotiations would
now go forward.

to Clarify, we’ll look today at what the often-used term “Doha
Round” means, and why exactly there has been a deadlock over it.
Joining us on the show is Pradeep Mehta, director-general of the
CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition, and secretary general
of CUTS International. CUTS, standing for Consumer Unit and Trust
Society, is an NGO that works on trade and regulatory issues.
