Regional Conference on Linkages Between Trade, Development and Poverty Reduction
Nairobi, October 16 & 17, 2006

CUTS Centre for International Trade, Economics & Environment (CUTS CITEE), Jaipur in association with CUTS-ARC, Nairobi is organising the Regional Conference under the TDP project at Nairobi, Kenya. This is the first of the regional conferences under TDP project in Africa.

Representatives of project partners from five countries in Eastern and Southern Africa viz.- Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia will be attending the conference apart from representatives from inter-governmental agencies, governments, civil society, and research organisations.

The objective of the event is to provide a discussion forum to deliberate on various trade-related capacity building initiatives in Eastern and Southern Africa from the point of view of development and poverty reduction.

Second State Level Workshop of the GRANITE Project
Jaipur, Rajasthan, October 11, 2006

CUTS Centre for Consumer Action, Research & Training (CUTS CART) in association with CUTS Centre for International Trade, Economics & Environment (CUTS CITEE), Jaipur and with the active support of Oxfam Novib, The Netherlands and Royal Norwegian Agency, New Delhi is organising the State Level Workshop of the Grassroots Reachout & Networking in India on Trade & Economics (GRANITE) Project, at Jaipur, Rajasthan, on October 11, 2006.

The objective of the workshop is to ensure wider outreach and networking in agriculture, textile, handicrafts and handlooms relevant issues in purview of World Trade Organisation (WTO) and globalisation. The workshop also aims to assemble diverse views/perceptions and concerns of the participants leading towards convergence of various approaches and views, which can be ultimately put forward to the policy making bodies on economic governance issue at different levels. The officials of State Government are one of the key stakeholders groups in GRANITE project.
