CUTS Centre for International Trade, Economics & Environment (CUTS CITEE), Jaipur, organised a one-day Interactive Meeting on ‘Challenges and Opportunities from a Possible India-EU FTA’ at the India International Centre, New Delhi, on November 08, 2006. The consultation was part of the European Union (EU) commissioned research project entitled, ‘A Qualitative Analysis of a Potential Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and India’ being jointly implemented by CUTS CITEE and Centre for the Analysis of Regional Integration at Sussex (CARIS), UK.

The meeting focused on:

  • Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Measures

  • Services

The meeting brought together experts, practitioners and stakeholders from different fields related to trade and investment in India. It focused on understanding the given key issues, which may serve to impede trade and investment flows between the EU and India. It also provided a better understanding of the key constraints to trade and investment between the EU and India and hence shed light on areas that are particularly important to address in the context of a future possible agreement.
